Outdoors this week we have been sharing the story of Stick Man. Mrs Allen has been showing you how to use a peeler with your own sticks to create a head/face. Using mirrors to look at your own faces, you drew a face for your character. As it was cold, you then moved on to “wrapping” Stick Man with some warm clothes. The final session was taking Stick Man around the Forest School site, teaching him where he can and can’t go and introducing him to our Forest School swing. This has opened up another part of the Forest for you and was a very popular choice for all! We have done a lot of work on taking turns this half term and you have put it into place with this new popular piece of equipment.
In the cabin we have been practising our looking skills using a woodpecker! You did well at watching and waiting for the woodpecker to reach the bottom before following a series of actions. Our Nursery Rhyme “It’s Raining, It’s Pouring” has had us role playing, sleeping and snoring on the mats. I wonder how many of your friend’s names you can now remember? In Maths we have been learning about the number five and you are doing so well at “seeing” how different the number five can look on Numicon, Dice, Egg Box, in a Row, on a hand! We were amazed on Friday when you were able to “Show Me” an Egg Box from a randomly chosen Numicon piece 1-5. We really do have some strong mathematicians this year! The end of the day has us Write Dancing and this week we have been drawing with chalk, flour and glitter to our song “Pat-a-Cake”.
The colder Autumn weather is finally coming and those warm hats have made an appearance. Please can you ensure that you either come in with one to wear OR leave one with us in Nursery in our hat basket.
For those of you without siblings in the school, we are closed for TED days on Thursday and Friday next week and so Nursery is not open on Thursday 25th and Friday 26th October.
See you in the morning!
Mrs Mander, Mrs Allen, Mrs Franklin, Mrs Broome and Mrs Lewis.
