Nursery News ~ 9th December 2018

This week we have begun our final topic of the year – Christmas! Outdoors Mrs Allen has been sharing the Christmas story with you up on the balcony – out of the rain! A new playground game was introduced “What’s the Time Mr Wolf?” – you all were challenged to step and count accurately. The outdoor Christmas craft task began when you made some Christmas baubles using pine cones, paint and glitter and mini Christmas trees using sticks and tying ribbons. Well done Georgie for a super idea to keep these outdoor projects next to your shoes on the balcony so you remember to take them home at the end of the day. Another firm favourite this week has been your very own pizza shop in the building block area and cups and cups of hot chocolate being created in the mud kitchen to wash down this pizza following all that rain!

In the cabin we have had two new visitors – our very own naughty elves, Holly and Jolly. They have been up to mischief every night creating chaos and have helped us with some of our Circle Time games. In Maths we have been learning about taking away, subtracting, stealing and every time you closed your eyes, they just took more. They have also helped us practise our listening skill of “Staying Quiet”, they hid our musical instruments and we had to use just our ears to find them. Our nursery rhyme this week was the Days of the Week song “In a Week” – we could hear you singing this everywhere, I hope you enjoyed singing/sharing with your grownups at home. Our new Write Dance song is called “Tree and Fairy Lights” and we have been flicking our fingers to create colour on the Christmas tree.

CHRISTMAS is STILL COMING!

It was lovely to see so many of you at the Christmas Fair and thank you to those parents who helped support the school by buying the Forest School/Christmas produce the children have created. We still have a few left and so we will leave these out on the bench on the balcony for you to buy – they would make a lovely gift for Christmas.

Thank you for all of your Christmas card orders. You should have now received these ready for you to start that card writing process – enjoy! Now all the orders have been received, the original card will come out to you at some point this week from your child for you to display at home – look out for this in amongst all the many letters and cards.

A reminder of our Nursery Christmas show which is on Thursday 20th December at 2.30pm in the cabin. This is open for all Nursery children to join in and parents to watch and so If your child does not attend on this day, please do bring them along at 2.15pm and enjoy coffee/cake on the balcony while you wait. If possible, could the children wear any Christmas jumpers/outfits that they may have to bring a little Festive cheer!

PARENT CONSULTATION

I am looking forward to chatting/meeting most of you on Wednesday or Thursday this week! It is a lovely opportunity to share their report and chat about how they have settled into nursery life. Just a quick reminder, that these appointments are 10/15 minutes long and so if you feel there is something you want to chat about that will take longer, please do let me know and we can arrange another day/time. Please come to Reception on arrival and I will come and collect you.

Mrs Mander, Mrs Allen, Mrs Franklin, Mrs Broome and Mrs Lewis.
