Happy Friday everyone!
What a beautiful week it has been – the sun has certainly put his hat on and come out to play. Thank you for all the sunhats and suncream at very short notice – without these, Forest School can become very limiting for the children.
Indoors we have made “Ten Little Pirates” come alive as we have been marching to a new pirate song and thanks to Captain Allen and Captain Lewis, you were chosen one by one to climb aboard their ships. We have linked the story with our Maths and taken it all outside in the sunshine where we have role-played the story of pirates being eaten by sharks, blown away by a hurricane and sang to by a mermaid (!). This has helped us SEE what it looks like in a ten frame/egg box when we count backwards.
Outdoors, Mrs Allen has been teaching you the races we will be taking part in for Sports Day next Friday – the one you enjoyed the most was the welly wanging! I just hope I am not the one at the Finish line when these are thrown! Mrs Allen has enjoyed turning the mud kitchen (with its new oven!) into a galley, cooking meals for the Captain and you have enjoyed hunting golden nuggets buried deep in the sand. During the afternoons, you have enjoyed being taken a group at a time to tend to the Early Years patch – digging out the weeds, sowing the seeds and watering them ready to attract some butterfly visitors.
The biggest hit this week though has been the introduction of the Trim Trail. To encourage some slower eaters and to duplicate what a lunch time will look like for most of you in Reception in September, we have been heading out for a fifteen minute climb, balance, swing after we have eaten. A HUGE hit this week!
Sports Day for Nursery will be Friday 24th May at 2pm on the school field. If your child does not attend on a Friday, please do bring them along to meet us on the school field for this time. You will see there have been some lanes painted and a circle for the parents to stand in. We look forward to seeing lots of you there!
Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Mander, Mrs Allen, Mrs Franklin, Mrs Broome and Mrs Lewis xxx
