The Big Top comes to Blackwell!

Firstly, I need to say a massive well done to all of Green Class for writing such fantastic stories as part of our Roald Dahl topic. The children worked really hard developing their sentences, coming up with exciting adjectives and using a variety of connectives.

For the remaining two weeks of the half term our topic is.................The Circus! We will start the topic with a circus day on Monday 30th January with special visitors coming in to teach us circus skills which we will continue to work on during our PE lessons. We will not have a project for this topic but will work in a cross curricular way. We will be developing our art skills by looking at collage and will become composers, creating our own circus parade music. Happy Christmas!

Well done to all of Green Class for a super term and all doing a brilliant job in 'The Snowman' being some very scary trolls and Year 1 children reminding everyone of the true meaning of Christmas. Over the break there will be tasks for children to do on the Learning Zone so please keep checking. Some parents have requested Maths homework so I will put Maths activities and suggestions for children to complete onto the Learning Zone.

Finally, it remains for me to say a huge thank you for all your kind Christmas gifts, cards and wishes we were very overwhelmed by your generosity. On behalf of ...

Blackwell Scarecrow Festival

Well done to all of Green Class for an excellent first project! We enjoyed a super Roman day on Friday with Roman food, dancing and singing. The children looked fantastic so a big thank you to all Green Class parents who took the time to make or put together Roman costumes. Your hard work was evident.

Out with the Romans and in with........................scarecrows! Our new project is to embrace the Autumn and take part in a whole school scarecrow festival. Children will be learning all about changes in the outdoors, materials and their properties and working together as a team to make a scarecrow. The theme for the scarecrows will be 'What would you like to be when you grow up?' Children will first have to ponder the question and be able to explain why they think what they do and debate with others as to why their occupation ...
