Working With Families

We believe that a strong partnership between home and school is an important way to support children’s learning. As part of our work, we liaise closely with families in the following ways:

• Home school agreement

• Twice yearly reports

• Termly consultation meetings

• Start of new year group family information meetings

• Several family events throughout the year

• Newsletters from classes and the headteacher

• Homework that informs families of work/ skills covered in school for all subjects- homework can often be completed between siblings on the same theme to support families 

• Parent questionnaires- annual

• Informal and formal meetings with families upon request

• Parent Friend and Teacher Association (PFTA)

• Parent Governors

• Use of ‘Parent Working Parties’ – for specific areas requiring more focussed liaison such as Homework and Sex and Relationship Education

Parent Working Party

As a result of feedback from families on our annual questionnaires, working parties are set up to support different development areas such as: homework; feedback to parents; development of a Sex and Relationship Education policy and home reading. Requests for parents willing to be part of these working parties are shared in newsletters.
