Green Class

Happy Christmas 2019

Dear Families,

What a term we’ve had in Green Class! I am so proud of how far the children have come and feel happy thinking about all the memories we’ve made. The children hosted an excellent memory café, became chapati making extraordinaires and put on an excellent Christmas production. Thank you for making today such a fun day too with our party games, pantomime and lots of Christmas crafting and music. I think it’s safe to say Mrs James definitely cannot do the floss!

Today was bittersweet as we said a fond farewell to Miss Turner as she starts a new adventure. She will be missed hugely but has been replaced with a dream team: Mrs Dudek (Mondays) and Mrs Hampton (Tuesday-Friday) Miss Turner has promised to write and we wish her every success.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all for your kind messages, cards and gifts. I am truly overwhelmed at your generosity. I have been touched by messages in cards from parents and children and it is always the words that mean most to us as teachers.

Over the holidays I hope the children have a good rest and shake off all their coughs and colds. I hope all the Green Class families have a magical Christmas and on behalf of my amazing team I would like to wish you a very Happy Christmas and look forward to seeing you in the New Year for more adventures in learning.

P.S If there are more rainy days or the big day is just taking too long to come please pick up your reading books, practise your joined up letter formation or research our new topic: We are off the Scotland! We will be reading Katie Morag stories and doing lots of map work looking at the Isle of Struay (A fictitious island based on the Isle of Coll) My final plea is that I would love to see your ‘shelfies’. We love reading and sharing stories in Green Class and all of our adults have made recommendations for books they like to read in our reading area. We would love to see photos of your bookshelves and favourite books to put in our reading area.

Half term news

Dear Families,

We hope you are having a super half term and have had a good rest after a very long first half term. We are incredibly proud of how well the children have settled into Green Class and we look forward to another busy term in the run up to Christmas. Highlights for us included our memory café where we were visited by Victor and residents from Burcot Grange to share their memories of WW2 and in the last week of the half term children represented themselves and the school excellently at the Bromsgrove Multiskills Festival.

Our next topic is Blackwell Bear Travels and his first destination is….. India! If you wanted to do any research over the weekend, you can share it with us next week after we spend the first day learning about the history of Bonfire Night. Please make sure you have picked up your reading book and we look forward to see you on Monday. Forest School continues for group 5 on Monday so please wear jogging bottoms and (named) winter essentials.
